It’s bad y’all. Really. Really bad. Probably the best thing that has happened to me is that in the last three years, since becoming a “professional writer” is that I can now claim book purchases as research for a partial tax deduction.
Sigh.
I ask my peeps on Facebook ALL the time what they are reading because I read at the speed of freaking light so I’m always looking for something new.
I’m reading a couple of books right now as research for the book I’m working on and realized today that I am reading EIGHT books at the same time. Eight.
I don’t even KNOW who I am anymore– I have always been a one book at a time kind of girl but alas, I keep picking up more books I want– nay– NEED to read, before I’ve finished the last one.
These are the books I’m reading right now…
The God Of The Mundane
by Matt B Redmond
Living Your Yoga: Finding the Spiritual in Everyday Life
by Judith Lasater (I’m not kidding y’all when I say I am obsessed with yoga. I do it everyday now and it’s made my anxiety levels ALMOST normal.)
Sparkly Green Earrings: Catching the Light at Every Turn
by Melanie Shankle
The Hole in Our Holiness: Filling the Gap between Gospel Passion and the Pursuit of Godliness
by Kevin DeYoung
7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess
by Jen Hatmaker (I am scared of this book because I know reading it is going to require DRASTIC measures in my life.)
Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead
by Brene Brown (I wish I had read this book last year.)
The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are
by Brene Brown (I wish I had read this book in kindergarten.)
The Fiery Cross (Outlander)
by Diana Gabaldon (This is book 5 in the Outlander Series and ALL of my writer friends and book slut friends have recommended this series to me for YEARS. But I was all, “TIME TRAVEL?? Um, no. Not my thing.”But y’all? Yes. Yes. Yes and amen. Yes. You need to read these books.)
These are a few books that I are on my I MUST HAVE YOU FOR MY VERY OWN list:
Cutting for Stone
by Abraham Verghese (It’s been in my pile of books to read FOREVER.)
Where’d You Go, Bernadette: A Novel
by Maria Semple (I’ve heard great things about this book from lots of people including Laurie Notaro’s Idiot Girl’s Book Club– they are not idiots. Girlfriends know some books.)
This is an anthology compiled by my friend Jen of People I Want to Punch in the Throat and has 37 essays from 37 of my very favorite bloggers on the planet. I need it. So do you.
Are you a book slut like me or a one book kind of peep? Enable me– tell me what you’re reading…
