Hello people of the internet!
I am going to kindergarten tomorrow to talk about blogging with all of Aubrey’s friends! They are learning about the letter “B”. Leave a comment with your favorite “B” word, where you are from and we will read them together at school!
My favorite “B” word is BUBBLES!
Toothpaste is not good for eczema. Sadie has been slathering herself down with it daily for the last 3 days and it looks like she stepped in an ant bed. I keep thinking I’ve gotten it all out of her reach and then I turn around and her legs are solid white and minty fresh.
On a different note, Emma, my 4-year-old, has discovered something new she loves to do. She loves to poke her finger through the plastic wrap of everything in the grocery store. You know the little styrofoam trays of broccoli? POP! Trays of cauliflower and squash? POP! Trays of grapes? POP! Trays of raw steak, hamburger and chicken? Pop! Pop! POP!
She’s so freakin’ fast! I hear a cacophony (great word by the way) of popping behind me and before I know it, every prepackaged tray of food within arms reach has been violated. My mommy tip? Look for holes in the plastic wrap and wash your food. I’d hate to even guess where that finger has been…

Aubrey had to get a hair cut today, because we haven’t been able to get a brush through her hair for the last two weeks. It’s so curly they have to straighten it to cut it, and she LOVES it. She calls it “flat hair” and when I told her she was going to get her hair did today she said, “Oh Momma! Will they make it all flat like last time, when it puffed up just like a dandy-lion!?”
I said yes, even though I’m not sure I understood the dandelion reference. She was stoked.
As soon as we walked in the door and Emma saw Aubrey toss her now silky smooth hair she had a fit, “MOMMA! I want weally fat hay-uh wike Sissy! Not cully hay-uh wike dis!!” She grabbed a couple of fistfuls of hair.
So I flat ironed my 4-year-olds hair and wondered how all those crazies on Toddlers & Tiaras do it. I’m lucky if me and my kids have the attention span and incentive to actually wash and brush their hair on the same day… forget putting eyeliner on a preschooler.
You can’t IMAGINE the amount of hair tossing that has gone on in my house today.
I know y’all are tired of me saying “in the History of the World,” but truth is truth. If it’s not perfect I fiddle with it until it is then I share it with you.
You need:
1 big ole pot roast, size and cut don’t really matter I usually get a chuck roast or whatever is on sale
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
2 envelopes of dry onion soup (Lipton or whatever, this recipe is on a box somewhere)
2 cups of water
Worcestershire sauce
NO SALT OR PEPPER (it will be seasoned perfectly and if you salt the roast it will turn out too salty!)
I usually sear my roast in a little olive oil on the stove top. But you really don’t have to, just dump it all in your crock pot and turn it on high. Stir it up a couple of times if you can, and let it cook all day. After about 5 hours, you will be able to pull it apart with a couple of forks, shake a little Worcestershire sauce in there and serve it over steamed rice. Best gravy in the world!
*Other options- dump 3 diced potatoes and a bag of baby carrots into the crock pot when you add the roast and cook all day for a great beef stew.
Gluten-free option!
3 cups of beef stock, 1/4 c Lea & Perrin’s, salt, pepper, 1 medium onion diced fine, 2 T spicy brown mustard, 2 crushed cloves of garlic. I cook the carrots in the crock pot for about 2 hours. Let the roast cook for at least 4. Preferably 6. You can cook diced potatoes with the carrots. OR make mashed potatoes and serve the roast and carrots over the top!!
