Bedtime was pretty easy around here tonight. Could be the fact that my kids have been outside playing in the sunshine and perfect 70 degree weather for two days straight and they were flat exhausted at bedtime.
In fact, Emma came in the house a little after 7pm and said, “My tummy hurt just a wittle. I think I’m going to lay down on my bed for a minute.” She hasn’t moved since then.
Aubrey (7) bathed Sadie (3) and while my husband was putting Sadie to bed, I let Aubrey help me bake some cookies. Don’t get all excited and impressed. They were break and bake. Really cute Easter break and bakes, but still. Easy.
I let her stay up a little later than her sisters and we talked for a few minutes before I sent her off to bed with a glass of ice water. She came back in the room seconds later.
Me: What?
Aubrey: I need Daddy.
Me: He’s putting Sadie to sleep, you can’t go in there. What do you need? I can help you…
Aubrey: I need to know why glasses sweat. And remember when I asked you what ant beds were made out of and what tears are made of and you said you didn’t know and we could ask Daddy…
Me: *coughs* ZEB, honey! Aubrey needs you!
I’m really glad he knows so much about science. And math. And history. Because basically if it doesn’t involve cooking, writing, reading, or reality TV, I’m going to be useless to my children when it comes to school.
