One of my life long biffles, Amy, started blogging this year over on Adopted, Accepted about adoption, infertility and being the Momma to a biracial family and her story will just make you cry happy tears and inspire you. In addition to having three kids under 3, girlfriend wrote AND illustrated the sweetest little book called Hand Picked.  It’s a great tool to introduce the concept of adoption to toddlers and young kids and emphasizes how every family is different. I cried when I read it because it’s just so sweet. You know the drill, like her on Facebook and leave a comment!

AND THEN, my friends Mandy and Nat over at Happy Mommy Box, were like, “WAIT! US TOO!” So they are giving a free Mommy Box to one lucky mother (heh) in January. Happy Mommy Box is a monthly care package full of fun surprises and motivation to brighten a mom’s day! They like to call it….encouraged and inspired motherhood at your doorstep!

Then, I wanted to get y’all something for Christmas too, so when my very favorite author, Joshilyn Jackson, came to town to promote her new book Somebody Else’s Love Story, I bought a copy of one of my favorite books she’s written (but they are all equally amazing and all of her books are SO GOOD,) A Grown Up Kind of Pretty and had her sign it.   30. This all seems FAB-U-LOUS!!! Oh YES Santa, I sooooooo NEED sumfething, puhleaze!!! Awe yes it was a bit of work, as someone noted above, and as usual it took ME even longer as I keep reading and looking all around (easily distracted)! Do I get to ask for more than one, lol!!! Oh yes, me thinks so….. My ABSOLUTE 1st choice would have to be one of the gorgeous bracelets, they are BEAUTIFUL!!! LET GO ~ teal or cream or any color! or any of those bracelets would be soooo welcomed!!!! More than appropriate as I am currently going thru letting go, and it is so not easy, so this would for sure be a reminder not only to let go but to remind myself that in letting go I will still be able to bloom (the flower, so appropriate)! And NEXT on the list would have to be that pillow – marshmallow magic!!!! That pillow does look and appear to be MAGIC, a slice of heaven beyond luxury, and after seeing and reading about it you have to know that I am headed to a battle with my own pillow when I head to bed sOOn! The temptation of perfection floating in my head!!! And my THIRD, and LAST WISH would be for the the book! Because, of course, a book is a present you can open again and again!!! I have read both the Gods in Alabama, and Between, Georgia, I do like her writing! I’m not sure exactly which book is up for the prize. I did recently read a good review of Someone Else’s Story, and I did bypass A Grown Up Kind of Pretty so either would be WelCoMEd! And that’s it for MY wish list!!!!
    Gankee is a concoction that I came up with years ago. It is used as my address and also here in my Facebook name. To me GANKEE is Yankee Grandmother my interpretation. I moved here to the south (North Carolina) when my lonely only daughter was young, as a single mom. When said child got her own dog in high school the problem was what my moniker was to be in relation to the dog – hence Gankee was established, and it is fitting and so it remains. And in December (two years ago) I became a real human Gankee, of a precious baby boy, so no Mommy Box needed!!! Besides that factory WAS shutdown (lol)!!! The adoption book, an accomplishment for sure! And personally I am happy that nowadays there is so much more variety available, for all types of families! My chosen nephew is 13 years old now, so I have no need for the book, but I AM glad that it is available and hopefully many more!!!! And the Obagi’s – – WoWzER!!!! Seems like a miracle worker – and I with my ADD even watched videos while clicking around, lol!!! Sadly tho it works for “fine wrinkles” and sadly I believe I just bypassed the fine and MY wrinkles can only be helped now by surgery! So if eye surgery becomes an available prize SIGN ME up….puhleaze! Also at my advanced age – the eyebrows of Michelle Stringer in the video = PERFECTION!!! Yikes, I might commit many sins if I could have those brows NOW!!!! Trust me, as you age those brows go ladies!!! THAT was my constant concern this past summer – brows! I tried, and tried, and tried any and every brow I could and in the sweltering summer heat they sweat right off!!! Urgh!!! Next summer I’m opting for the Sharpie – fine point!!! Off now to wrestle with my non luxury pillow!!! Merry Christmas to All ~ and to all HOPE we win!!!!!
