It’s bad y’all. Really. Really bad. Probably the best thing that has happened to me is that in the last three years, since becoming a “professional writer” is that I can now claim book purchases as research for a partial tax deduction.
Sigh.
I ask my peeps on Facebook ALL the time what they are reading because I read at the speed of freaking light so I’m always looking for something new.
I’m reading a couple of books right now as research for the book I’m working on and realized today that I am reading EIGHT books at the same time. Eight.
I don’t even KNOW who I am anymore– I have always been a one book at a time kind of girl but alas, I keep picking up more books I want– nay– NEED to read, before I’ve finished the last one.
These are the books I’m reading right now…
The God Of The Mundane
by Matt B Redmond
Living Your Yoga: Finding the Spiritual in Everyday Life
by Judith Lasater (I’m not kidding y’all when I say I am obsessed with yoga. I do it everyday now and it’s made my anxiety levels ALMOST normal.)
Sparkly Green Earrings: Catching the Light at Every Turn
by Melanie Shankle
The Hole in Our Holiness: Filling the Gap between Gospel Passion and the Pursuit of Godliness
by Kevin DeYoung
7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess
by Jen Hatmaker (I am scared of this book because I know reading it is going to require DRASTIC measures in my life.)
Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead
by Brene Brown (I wish I had read this book last year.)
The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are
by Brene Brown (I wish I had read this book in kindergarten.)
The Fiery Cross (Outlander)
by Diana Gabaldon (This is book 5 in the Outlander Series and ALL of my writer friends and book slut friends have recommended this series to me for YEARS. But I was all, “TIME TRAVEL?? Um, no. Not my thing.”But y’all? Yes. Yes. Yes and amen. Yes. You need to read these books.)
These are a few books that I are on my I MUST HAVE YOU FOR MY VERY OWN list:
Cutting for Stone
by Abraham Verghese (It’s been in my pile of books to read FOREVER.)
Where’d You Go, Bernadette: A Novel
by Maria Semple (I’ve heard great things about this book from lots of people including Laurie Notaro’s Idiot Girl’s Book Club– they are not idiots. Girlfriends know some books.)
This is an anthology compiled by my friend Jen of People I Want to Punch in the Throat and has 37 essays from 37 of my very favorite bloggers on the planet. I need it. So do you.
Are you a book slut like me or a one book kind of peep? Enable me– tell me what you’re reading…

Yes, I too. am a book hoe. I am always “reading” a Stephen King book…he is my book husband, always there to comfort me when other books do me wrong. Currently reading “It” for the gazillionth time. Also reading “Wine in my Sippy Cup”, “The Good Sister” and reading the Lord of the Rings Trilogy along with my 11 year old son.

Yes, I’m a total book slut. I typically read 2 or 3 books at a time. Currently reading The Darcys of Pemberley and The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen. And when it gets here on Wednesday, I’ll start Silver Linings Playbook… want to read it before seeing the movie and it just so happens to be my next book club’s pick.

Guess I’m into “serial monogamy” with books. I read about 175 a year, but only one at a time. (Except The Bathroom Book, which is always in there. Kind of like flirting with the cute barrista — you see him on a regular basis but know nothing serious is going to develop…) Read the first few “Outlander” books but quit after Jamie and whatsername ended up in America. Seemed like a good time to bail off that horse. YOU NEED TO READ ‘CUTTING FOR STONE’ NEXT!!! It is **amazing**.

I used to be a one book at a time girl, but there are just too many books! Right now I am reading “Black Like Me” by John Howard Griffin “Moons of Jupiter” by Alice Munroe “Freaks Geeks and Asperger Syndrome” by Luke Jackson “The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire” by Deepak Chopra and “You are Here” by Tich Nhat Hanh I guess my thing is I can only do one fiction story type book at a time.

Uh, yeah. Ditto. My everything is full – my nightstand, my office desk, my Kindle. I can’t wait to go on vacation so I can read THE ENTIRE TIME. i mean…ummmm…spend time with my husband? Yeah. That. *cough*
Right now I’m reading books to review (Amber Dusick’s new book is fantastic), and collecting ideas for beach reads for when I go away. Do you have any lighter (paperback) reads you would recommend for my trip?

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who obsesses over books! I’m always reading several, depending on my mood. I like fiction and non-fiction so there’s usually at least one of each on my bedside table. Right now, I’m reading The Expats by Chris Pavone & Mere Churchianity by Michael Spencer. My youngest daughter is a big reader & she loves reading aloud so I’m a listener, too. She’s currently finishing The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe. I’m glad to have discovered your blog!

I love books & I love reading.
Yes, I’m a bookaholic, too. Just ask my kids.
I’m not very good at reading more than one book at a time, but I read lots. Last year I read over 60 books which was higher than my goal of 52 books in 2012.
I’m keeping a stack of the books I’ve read in the corner of my room. I’ll check back to see what you are reading.

I’m reading Wrecked by Jeff Goins, Creative Illustation Workshop by Katherine Dunn, Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell, The Book of Acts in the Bible, and I’ve started other books on kindle but I can’t remember what they are off the top of my head! I just bought a bunch of used books these past 4 weeks – like almost 20! But have only spent around $65-70. I need to stop now, but it’s hard to pass up a bargain for $4 or less!
