Emma: Momma do you want Mitt Romney to be our president or Barack Obama to be our president for four more years?
Me: Ummmm, neither really.
Emma: WELL, Barack Obama’s favorite food is chili and his favorite sport is basketball…
Me: Okay.
Emma: Mitt Rom-in-nee’s favorite sport is riding horses and his favorite food is granola. AND he has 18 grandkids.
Me: Where are you getting this stuff?
Emma: It was in my Weekly Reader. I really like chili… BUT also? I really like horses too. I don’t know who I would vote for. That’s hard.
Me: Tell me about it.
Sounds familiar! Son #1 said “Romney wants to take our playgrounds” to which son #2 responded “Hmph, Obama wants to make us all socialites!”
Oh, boy.

Preach it Emma! I don’t even like who I voted for!
I’m not happy with either option.
She really can relate to us.
PRECIOUS! I love those Weekly Readers. They really speak to me on my level of understanding the big issues like favorite foods and pets.

Chili and horses, indeed. Is that just another way of saying we have to choose between windbag and an ass? 😉 It’s very amusing to hear kids talk about politics. My seven year old has been much more intrigued in the election than I have.
I actually miss those Weekly Readers – I’d forgotten the gems they could produce.

Sports and favorite food – the political ads really should have discussed these topics more.

It’s amusing the way this kid thinks on her level logically. Kids just say the darnest things, don’t they? Choose very carefully between chili and horses, sweetheart.
