Today Aubrey (6) and I wrapped her shoebox/Valentines mailbox for school. I’m pretty sure this was my very favorite activity we did every single year in school. I loved picking the perfect Valentine for all my friends and tried to save the very best Valentine for whoever (whomever??) I was in lurve with at the time.
Aubrey filled out all of her cards, all by herself, for the first time. She had chosen princess themed cards and she was making her way down the list of her classmates when she bolted upright and said, “OH NO!”
Me: What?
Aubrey: I can’t give GIRL Valentines to the boys!
Me: Why not? You’re a girl. They’re from you. You’re going to get ‘boy-ones’ from them…
Aubrey: MOOOOOOOOM. They are NOT gonna like that.
Me: Too bad. We’re not buying anymore.
Aubrey sighed and pushed her hair out of her eyes, “What-EV-er. I just hope Andrew doesn’t totally freak out.”
Just a few things…
1) When did my baby get old enough to say What-EV-er justlikehermomma?
2) It was pretty awesome that I didn’t have to fill out her cards for her. *pumps fist in air*
3) WHO is Andrew and WHY do we all of sudden care if he freaks out?

Isabella is in kindergarten and I was the mean mom and made her write all the kids names on the valentines. I did write her name on the valentines though.
Similar for my preschooler. I made him write HIS name on all the valentines.
We made the Valentine Boxes on Saturday. We used old tissue boxes. I'm so excited!

For the first time, three Valentine boxes had to be made at our house. Thanks to several snow days home from school, they are ready to go: One red box with Sonic the Hedgehog everywhere going to Kindergarten, another red box with a simple circle and instructions that say "insert your Valentine here —->" (seriously, that's our secondgrader).
Finally, a Hogwarts sorting hat for our fifth grader. (It eats the cards).
Whew… glad they are all complete!

LOVE the sorting hat idea! And how funny is it to see all of your kids' personalities coming out in the same project!

Seriously, WHO is Andrew and WHY do we care??? Oh dear, Robin! Looks like we better keep a close eye on her!
