Sometimes it’s hard to sit down and be funny, to try not to offend anyone with my sense of humor (some people are easily offended) and to stay upbeat.
Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the number of “Mommy Bloggers” out there in cyberspace and I wonder if it’s worth it. I don’t want endorsements, product reviews or so many ads on my home page that you get confused as to where to look.
I want to write. I want to make people laugh. I want to let other moms realize we are all in this together and this thing called motherhood really is fun, when you don’t take it so seriously.
I don’t want to go to a conference about how to market myself, or have to trick people into reading what I write here.
I want to write. I want your feedback and I want to discuss. I want to be a place where moms can come to share and laugh and to know they won’t be judged.
Those are my deep thoughts for the day. What are yours?

This is exactly what I've been thinking about lately. I just started my blog in Jan. and I've been pondering my goals for it lately. Do I really care if anyone reads it or comments on it other than people I know in real life? Does it really matter that my only follower is my husband? For me, I've decided it doesn't. Would it be nice to be a famous (and by that I mean monetarily successful) blogger? Of course. But really, I just want to write and hopefully someone will enjoy something and maybe I'll meet some interesting people along the way.

I agree, I don't want to do any of the things you mentioned either. I just started my blog recently, but I've been a freelance writer for over 2 years. The blog comes last in my opinion, I just want to keep writing.

Robin,
I think you are doing a great job! Always funny, never offensive, and it's ok if you're not always upbeat- sometimes life is not easy and we expect there to be ups and downs. I look forward to reading about your adventures everyday! It reminds me so much of when my kids were little. Can't wait for the teenage years!

Thanks Anonymous. I'm just at this crossroads where I need to reach a new audience and new people but I don't want to distract from what I love to do it. I'm sure there are really quick ways to attract readers.
But I want readers who will enrich the community of women my blog speaks to…I want readers who will play with me!
Sally, I'm just getting started in this writing thing and it's HARD to make a living! I have written one book which is repped and I'm working on my 2nd.
I need the blog as part of my platform but I'm confounded as to how to do it at times!

Robin, you rock! Even though my "chickadees" have grown up, I love to read your blog and remember those precious memories of child craziness. It truly goes too soon, and you seem to have this mothering thing pretty darn figured out with the right balance of humor, patience, and best of all… LOVE! Kudos, my dear!

Thanks for keeping it real. I totally understand what you mean. I know you want a broader audience, but I think you should stay true to yourself and your voice and the humor God has given you, even if it sadly means not a lot of blog growth. Remember, God has set you on this path to writing a book and becoming an author, and He is going to see you through it. It will be in His perfect time! But I believe you will publish this book. Hugs!

I personally think you are quite fabulous! You crack me up and I must say that I check Robins Chicks daily to see if anything new has been posted. I love reading about your adventures and look forward to the day when I have children and can share of my funny and not so funny at the time moments. Just keep doing what you are doing know that God will do something awesome, like lead people to you. You are uplifting and even though you sometimes get down, you at least can laugh about it later. Thanks for taking the time out of your hectic mommy schedule! Blessings 😉

Write! Write! Write! Stay the course. Getting published is the goal, you got to play the game till you get there. Thoughts become things. Stay Positive. You got it girl. I didn't know there was such cyber world out here. It is overwhelming.

Don't change anything. Your blog makes my day. I am glad you haven't "sold out" like so many of those other so called mommy bloggers. You are obviously doing what you love writing and still being a wonderful mother to your children. As far as offending someone this day in time it is going to happen. You could say the sky is blue and someone is going to be offended. Just keep going in the direction the Lord sends you and you will be rewarded. Just remember when you become famouse don't forget all the friends and family you have at home in Walker County Alabama. Who know maybe we will name a building after you someday.:)

Dear, dear Robin!
You are awesome and your readers love you for keeping it real. I have been going through something similar… when you start reaching a wider audience… it's hard to keep it real sometimes, especially when the voices of a few harsh critics ring so loudly in our heads.
I think this time in your life is a real opportunity to reconnect with your purpose and live it in a BIG way. I think God takes us through these "levels" of growth. Perhaps you're feeling the growing pains.
I believe with every ounce of my being that you can continue to grow your audience without losing the real, hilarious Robin in the process.
Your gift is a gift to so many!!!!
xoxo Angie
